Unit 4 • Chapter 2

After the chaos of World War One, Germany faced economic crisis and the fall of the monarchy. From 1933 to 1941, Germany rebuilt a powerful military under the Third Reich, defying expectations. The Weimar Republic's challenges led to hyperinflation and the rise of Adolf Hitler's party. Hitler became Chancellor in 1933 and rapidly consolidated power through propaganda and rebuilding the army. The efficient and strategic German Army, combined with factors like luck and planning, led to their rapid advancement in Europe, culminating in control over much of the continent by the end of 1941.
